Police are looking for a suspect who stole guns, cash and credit cards after a woman with dementia let him into her Miami home.

The incident happened on the afternoon of January 31 at a house in the 200 block of Southwest 38th Court.

Miami police officials say the homeowner was at work and his 94-year-old mother, who has dementia, was home alone and sitting on the porch when a man in a construction vest walked over. approached and asked in Spanish if he could use the restroom.

The woman, thinking the man was a family member, let him in and after using the bathroom he entered a bedroom and stole three guns and other items from a table bedside, police said.

Police released video from the front door camera which showed the suspect exiting through the front door. He walked over to a white Ford F-350 utility truck and left the scene.

Detectives are looking for the suspect, who they described as 40 to 50 years old, weighing around 200 pounds, who was wearing an aqua-colored face covering, white cap, construction vest and beige long shorts.
